Hmmm, something has shifted and changed. Is it Spring? Or a totally different way of looking at things? Can’t put my finger on it but have been ruminating on it for a while. I can’t help thinking it’s to do with Ravelry.
Maybe the complete sensory overload of things that catch my eye when looking up what ‘friends’ are queuing or favouriting spoils the end result of a magazine, but the last issue of VK and Interweave Knits left me slightly blah. Didn’t see anything that caught my eye. The latest Knitty did the same thing. That’s not to say that I didn’t like anything in any of those issues, just felt like I had seen the patterns/ideas before.
I’ve found that I have been skimming my bloglines with similar disinterest (never liked the concept of not actually seeing people’s blogs anyways), so I have slimmed that right down to blogs that are from people not on Ravlery and/or not knitting related.
I should say that I also discovered that I can check people’s activity in the different groups I’m in – so when looking at the Ashford Knitters Loom group I can see what the members activity has been. I guess this hones in on possible like minded interests of each separate group!
I am using the “Friends” tag in Ravelry differently too. Checking out all the blogs via that way. Seems to work better for me. Well, today at least.
Having said that I still went and purchased the Yarn Magazine to have a nose around. Boy was I surprised when I noticed another pattern in there by someone who slipped in under the Radar. No fanfare or even mention of it on her blog – I even had to prod her to link it in Ravelry. Floating Blossom Socks (Rav link)are Miss Ceri’s creations. I have some fixation sitting and waiting for inspiration so I will have to start them up I think. Cute non?
I am at that stage, when finishing a big project that I start musing about what’s next. I have several projects I really want to finish, so have consoled myself with casting on a few different socks in different yarns – whether or not I finish them remains to be seen but sometimes the simple task of casting on something that is niggling at me fixes the problem. I really need to finish up the larger items in my WIP’s pile too.
On a totally different note – I leave you with more of Hamish’s thoughts.
Instead of Kaela’s version of what should and shouldn’t be said, Hamish now says
You took G*d’s name in vain-ish!
Hmmmm. I leave you with those finks!

The asocks were a surprise to me too, and aren’t they nice??? I am glad your Friday Finks are back. Hope no-one is doing anything vain-ish tonight!!!
I am blushing so much!! – They are pretty – and really comfy – although some people havve said they can feel fixation under thir feet – if so – feel free to do a reverse stocking stitch sole! I’m so pleased you like them – I thought they were pretty!!
In vain-ish or vanish!
Spring fever is a weird thing. Looking for new stuff, not wanting to complete old stuff wanting to break out into weird non-viral ways… you know.
Thank heaven the blahs of winter have gone, though!
I have to say I agree totally – but am using the Friend’s blog tab to keep updated on blogs that way….
sometimes I think about slimming down my bloglines but I can’t. While I love friend’s activity on Rav, I love reading the blogs even more, the real personal element that comes into them, or the stories behind the knitting. Interesting hey.
