Goes around
April 30, 2008
What goes around comes around….in many ways. Unexpected starts, finishes and details in-between.
On Saturday I saw my Girlfriend, due next week with her 4th baby. When I asked her if ‘that baby was still in there?’ she jumped up and down (quite vigorously I remember thinking) saying “YES”. Sure enough 2 hours later I got a call to say that her waters had broken and 4 hours later (ouch) Cianne (said See-anne) arrived in the world. Her 1st girl after 3 boys. I had finished this lovely cardi for her and it needs to be blocked and finished before presented.

On Sunday we got a phone call to say that Steve’s lovely 90 year old Grandma had passed away. I mention this lightly due to many circumstances. She was 90, had many many family and friends around, had been in a nursing home for 4 years, and was a devout Christian - more than ready to meet her maker. Her health had decreased rapidly the past month or so and she wasn’t able to do more than sleep and wake intermittently. So although we were sad we all agreed that simply breathing out gently when asleep and not breathing back in was such a lovely peaceful way to go.
On Monday I went to the Local Goodwill store and dumped SO much stuff, bags and bags and bags full of clothes/un-needed possessions etc and fixed a determined stare on the exit door. But not before a huge box of cones of yarn jumped out and bit me and begged me to take some of them home. For $15.00 all this became mine. Stuff going out, stuff coming back in.

I love having many different colours ready to use in my loom and this certainly adds to the collections.
On Tuesday we had Nana T’s funeral, which was, by all accounts, a lovely service (if such a thing can be said), and we then spent the afternoon with various family members that we rarely see, having a drink in Mary’s memory, and finishing the day with dinner at a lovely restaurant together. It wasn’t planned that way but I can’t help but think that Mary would have been SO happy watching us all, laughing and enjoying family.

Funny, I was just ordering shoes when D asked, “That something in, something out applies to shoes too right?” Sometimes the ‘out’ is far harder than the ‘in’.

Life is like that, it usually kind of balances things out. I’m glad you had the chance to celebrate Mary’s life, and Cianne’s new life. Love the cardigan!!!

That’s a gorgeous baby sweater (and a gorgeous baby name, too). Condolences on Steve’s grandmother–no matter the circumstances, it is always an event, to mark the end of someone’s life.

OOOOH great find (conewise) Sorry about Nana T - but sometimes it’s the right time - was with my Nain (Welsh Nana) - doesn’t mean you don’t miss them, but….. It’s right.

Sorry about Nana T but agree with you, that is the best way to go - at the end of a long life surrounded by people who love you and safe in the knowledge you will be with god.
Great buy on the cones - am sure that they will not take up nearly as much space as the stuff you took to the shop.

I am sure that Nana T would have thought it was just a lovely day with her family together, enjoying each others company, remembering all those family times and best of all - remembering her. It sounds like you all celebrated Nana T’s life in a very special way.

My condolences to your family at the passing of a dearly loved member of the family. It would be my preferred way to go too!

No wonder she was anxious to get that baby out: severe estrogen shortage in that home!!
Congratulations to all!
