Fighting the Urge
April 17, 2008

- To be happy that the children are on holidays
- To be happy that they get to sleep in and relax all morning with Daddy
- To not yell at my lovely children who ask me the MINUTE I get in the door (I am working 8am to 12.30pm these 2 weeks of holidays, then Steve goes to work at 12.30pm till when-ever - it’s not perfect but it works) “Where are we going Mum?”
- To not yell at my lovely husband who has had a sleep in, a long shower, a cup of coffee, time to read the paper, do some work from home, whilst the kids languish on the lounge all morning, that I REALLY NEED HIM TO TAKE THEM SOMEWHERE/ANYWHERE/OUT for a little bit so they won’t hassle me to take them out all afternoon.
- To sit down on the couch ALL afternoon - fending off children’s requests to GO SOMEWHERE, so I can knit, Knit, KNIT.
- To not curse the lovely falling rain that LIMITS Where I can TAKE MY CHILDREN….without succumbing to the wild jungle of the indoor play centre where every single mother has taken their children cause it’s raining and their kids keep asking them “WHERE ARE WE GOING MUM”
- To go to the wild jungle of the indoor play centre where every single mother has taken their children cause it’s raining, because, let’s face it, there’s a lot of knitting time to be had there……
EDITED TO ADD
I am fighting the urge not to ’sigh’ at Daddy’s choice of venue for this mornings “going out somewhere’ option - being the Local McDonalds for ‘morning tea’.

You can’t win them all… but you can knit through it!
That is a beautiful picture, absolutely stunning!

Off to the linrary then to pick up Daughter - when Daddy looks after them, they don’t go anywhere nor does the washing, washing-up or cooking get done! I’m taking them to the garden - ha!

Fighting the urge to ask him, and all men, “Don’t you ever get it? What is so difficult to understand about giving Mom a break?!?”

I’m feeling the whole ‘fighting the urge thing’ myself.
Maybe we should Thelma and Louise it this weekend?
You know, except the whole cliff thing.

There must be a lot of tired out mammas about at the moment. I’m feeling pretty much the same way!
